This pro video camera uses a 12,288 x 6480 12K Super35 sensor, a new color science, and up to 14 stops of dynamic range to produce extraordinarily detailed images. I’d never be able to use it on my 6D, however.Step your cine-style video recording up to 12K with the URSA Mini Pro 12K Digital Cinema Camera from Blackmagic Design. I’ve never used one but I’ve read good things. Having B4 and PL mount options opens up worlds of possibilities.īut, I guess if I had nothing and needed to buy one lens for a new Ursa Mini Pro, that Sigma ART f/1.8 18-35mm is probably a very decent option. But it’s also nice to have an ENG lens for quick HD work, as well as some very decent fast PL-mount proper cine primes that adapt to EF quickly. So it’s nice to have a bunch of EF mount lenses to cover short to normal and moderately long focal lengths. So, basically I’m kinda ready for anything.Īnd with a PL mount option you can also rent very nice motion picture lenses on bigger jobs. And for 2/3” chip sensors, I also have a B4 mount f/1.8 8.6-172mm Fujinon ENG servo zoom lens. Stopped down to T2.8, the lenses are sublime. My current PL-mount lens set is the current SLR Magic APO Hyper cine primes at 25, 50, and 85 mil at T2.1 wide open. Thinking in terms of Super 35, I am a fan of a fast 28mm stopped down to T4.5/6 or so. If I could have but one stills prime, on a 135 sensor it’d be a 35mil, and 24mil for APS-C. If I could only have one stills zoom lens ever, it’s be fast versions of either a 24-70 or 16-35, depending on the sensor size of whatever camera I’m stuck with. Any of these lenses would cover Super 35.

Most of my lenses are intended for 135 format, but a few are deliberately EF-S mount and intended for APS-C sensors. Then I have a few specialty non-Canon glass that may be native EF or EF via adapter, like this Russian 8mm fisheye I got on eBay several years ago, and a few strange German or Japanese manual lenses from the 70’s or 80’s. From my Canon photography days, I can cover between 11mm and 200mm with my current L and normal lenses with maximum apertures ranging from f/1.4 to f/4, all Canon brand.
